The Best Baked Bangers & Cauliflower Mash Recipe

Maybe I should rename this blog to the Casual Keto Comfort Food Chef (too much?) because it seems like that’s what it’s becoming! After yesterday’s amazing response to the comfort food that was the cauliflower steak, I’ve decided to make some creamy, buttery and gorgeous Cauliflower Mash to go with some Bangers.  Oh – and I’ve done the measurements in both metrics for you if you’re over the pond! Thankyou 🙂

The most popular British comfort food, but enjoyed by millions around the globe, Bangers (Or sausages) and mash is an amazing combination and super duper easy! The mash is made and baked with the sausages at the same time for around 20-25 minutes – leaving you time to hang the washing out or pour another Gin & Tonic! Simples!

In regards to a lovely Gravy, I made my own but any shop bought Gravy is fine to use for this meal as long as it fits in with your macros. Be careful though because some are thickened up with Flour or Corn Starch which contains carbs – so check the back of the packet before using!

Your Cauliflower mash is a black canvas as well! I added Garlic but left it out of the recipe as I think what I’ve been posting has been a bit garlic – heavy recently, but like I say ; a blank canvas! Use your imagination and get creative with this amazing dish! In regards to Onions – I left them out and as Onions can be rather carb-heavy I’d be careful on this front as well. But, hey! If it fits your Macros use it!

So enjoy this easy, casual keto Dinner (or it can even be eaten as a keto lunch or snack!) by following the recipe below and enjoy! Please leave a comment if you enjoyed and remember to follow me on social media!

Ingredients

-1 Medium Cauliflower

-85g/3oz of Salted Butter

-284ml/9.6oz of Heavy Double Cream

-Salt

-Pepper

Method

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil.
  2. Chop the Cauliflower into evenly sized florets.
  3. Gently add the Cauliflower to the boiling water and cook for 8-10 minutes, until the cauliflower is soft and tender.
  4. Preheat the Oven to 180C/335F.
  5. Drain the Cauliflower really well and return it to the warm pot and add the butter.
  6. Mix the Cauliflower and butter together to make sure the softened Cauliflower is coated evenly then as salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Use a stick blender to mash the cauliflower down until there are no lumps and then add the double cream.
  8. Cook the Mash and Double cream out for around 5/10 minutes. At this point add more salt and pepper if you deem it necessary.
  9. Transfer the Cauliflower into a roasting dish, I used a glass Pyrex one as you can see from the Cauliflower Bake recipe yesterday.
  10. Place in the oven for 20/25 minutes until the mash is crispy on top – as you are baking the mash you can also cook your sausages at the same time as well.
  11. Serve with Keto-Friendly Gravy and Enjoy! J
